I haven't really watched any of the KEI visual novels, However you're going to enjoy the fuck out of Black Lagoon, just make sure to watch it dubbed.

Watch it dubbed, it has one of the best dubs ever and in my opinion is MUCH better than the subbed. Speaking of amazing dubs, if you ever get around to watching Spice and Wolf, it's the other member of the "Dub is better than sub trinity" (The other two are Black Lagoon and Cowboy Bebop.)

The reason I heard to watch the dub is that the characters are supposed to speaking English and not Japanese, most of the time. So it makes sense on that level.
